Calendar update post recipients

A former member of our ward, now long since moved, is still receiving update notices posted to the Young Men ward calendar -- and he does not want them. How can we (or he) go about removing his name from receiving these updates?

See the thread Former Member Still Receiving Calendar Reminders. In that thread, this post indicates that users simply need to sign in to the calendar for their new ward, but other posts question whether that works in all cases.
