singles ward bishop seeing wrong calendar

Postby ringowh » Mon Apr 09, 2012 11:54 pm

Hi, I am the ward web admin. My bisop is seeing the calendar for the home ward who's boundaries he lives in, and can't seem to get the one for our singles ward. He says he sees all of our seperate calendars in his settings page but can't see the actual calendar with events. Anyone seen this? (New website by the way)

If he can see the calendars listed in the Settings:Calendars tap, then he has the proper permissions as an administrator and should be able to view the calendars. Make sure he goes to the Settings:Subscriptions tab and subscribes to the calendars he wishes to see. He needs to make sure he has either "Ward Calendars (xx)" or "All Calendars (xx)" selected. There will be less clutter and confusion if he has "Ward Calendars (xx)" selected to make sure he is only viewing ward calendars when setting his subscriptions. There may be duplicate names for the calendars from his home ward and the YSA ward if a naming convention is not being used to identify the ward to which the calendar belongs.

Once he has subscribed to the calendars he wants to see he should go back to the Calendar page and make sure a check is next to the names of the calendars in the "Subscribed Calendars" list box on the left of the Calendar page. By default the check will be there for a newly subscribed calendar.

Thanks! I sent that to him. I think he may not have been subscribed.
On another note we (he, I, and the ward clerk) can't seem to get me access to upload pictures to the online roster. Were trying to load them to the new one and it appears even with admin rights it wont allow me access to anything except my own... maybe ill start a new thread for this, but any tricks?

FYI I am a Stake Technology Specialist in a YSA Stake. I've been working with all of the Bishoprics, of the 13 wards in my stake, to make sure they have access to the online tools.

In the calendar, the "Ward Calendars" and "Stake Calendars" sections *only* list their home ward/stake (the unit where their church records live). The "All Calendars" list shows all of the calendars from both home ward/stake and the YSA Ward & YSA Stake. As there does not seem to be a way for them to tell the difference between multiple "Elders Quorum" Calendars, I'm encouraging all of the Wards to append their Ward name to the end of all ward calendars.

Then we have calendars like:
Ward Activities
Ward Activities - Riverside YSA
Stake Activities
Stake Activities - Pioneer YSA

This makes it clear which are YSA calendars and which are home ward/stake calendars. Good luck on the roller coaster for out-of-unit leaders of YSA Units. There's always something that doesn't work right for them. I have high hopes that eventually, these out-of-unit leaders will have a good simple experience. Until then, *you* are the first line of support.

Good Luck!
