Window Tools

#1

Post by chrispremo »

I don't understand the church's decision to exclude the Windows OS from Mobile tool development. Many members don't use IOS or Droid devices for teaching classes. In addition, with the limited internet access in Ward building, accessing Church WEB sites on Sunday becomes untenable. I've just recently downloaded the LDS Media App to my iOS phone and was greatly impressed with it's usefulness. Unfortunately, displaying the video(s) or picture(s) on a small phone is not practical. Further, with only tree TVs available in the Ward Library, there is another road block. It would be very useful to be able to use a Laptop device to display video(s) or picture(s). Although I'm technically able to download these items from my home internet, many teachers are not. Being able to use a tool like the LDS Media application on a laptop would greatly improve the individual teachers ability to give a meaningful lesson.

For what it's worth, Gospel Library is available on Windows devices running Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Indeed, our team of volunteers currently has a public beta of our next major release available to download from the Windows Store.

You can more about the beta here:

I appreciate that, but then you have to download ALL videos or pictures to be able to use them. Where as with the new LDS Media app, I see the ability to just download the needed video/pictures for the coming lesson(s) and then delete them when finished in a simpler application than the Library tool. This going on the old adage, Keep it Simple Silly (changed to be more Christ-like).

Though not yet implemented, the ability to download specific videos or audio is coming to Gospel Library on Windows, just like it exists on iOS and Android. There's no need to download it all just to get what you need for your lesson. An easy-to-use multimedia manager will help users remove downloaded media they don't need anymore.
