Need text messaging ability under organizations tab(s)

Postby Schneiter5 » Sat Jun 11, 2016 8:16 am

I would love the ability to text members that fall under each of the different organization tabs. The organization tabs under the mobile app provide detailed filtering that members with permissions related to their respective callings could contact individuals in a very efficient manner.

The problem is, most cell phone providers limit the number of people you can text in one crack to discourage spam.

In addition, you are assuming everyone in your organization can receive texts. While that may be "mostly" true in some countries/regions/wards, it is likely not 100% true anywhere.

Ward leaders do have the option to send emails or texts to all members in a given organization [those who have cell phones that can receive texts recorded as their individual phone number]. When you're looking at a list, on iOS, there's a box with an arrow coming out of it icon that provides that option (I assume something similar in Android). However, if the list (for example, the elders quorum presidency, or the members of the Gospel Doctrine class, or the same for a custom list) is bigger than 10 people, it will fail because of cell phone service provider limitations.
