LDS Music App Requests

#1

Post by r36_9346 »

Would it be possible for the following to be added to the LDS Music app?

• Music playback should continue after the screen is switched off, or if the user exits the app.
• Adjustable music playback speed.

Version 1.4 of the LDS Music app is about to be released and one of our main development focuses for version 1.5 will be advanced playback options/controls. Background audio has been suggested and is definitely something that we want to add. Adjustable playback speed is a good idea as well! The best way to contribute and submit feature requests is by joining the "LDS Music for iOS" project here at Tech.LDS.org (see the "Projects" tab at the top of the page). You will automatically be added to the discussion group mailing list and you can start a new topic by emailing it to ldsmusic-ios@tech.lds.org (make sure you set "Reply to" to ldsmusic-ios@tech.lds.org as well).

Is it possible that a version of this app could be made useable to iOS 4.2 users?

Unfortunately, Apple no longer supports older versions of iOS. They don't let you download old versions of the app through the iTunes store, and they also have restrictions that don't allow new apps to be submitted that support both old and new devices fully.

In addition to Apple's restrictions, some of the updates we've added recently and will be adding soon use features that aren't possible on older versions of iOS without significant circumlocution of code.

If you join the "LDS Music for iOS" project (see the "Projects" tab at the top of the page) you can access the following page, which lets you download beta versions of the app – including older beta versions from back when iOS 4 was supported: http://tech.lds.org/dl/ios/

iOS 4 devices should be able to run LDSMusic-Staging 1.3.1 (1193) or anything before that.

I have on more than one occasion experinced a hymn being played in this app during a prayer. Through personal experience I know how easy it is to inadvertently press the play button and unknowingly because the volume on the device is too low to notice until the prayer begins.

I don't know what the best solution is. Maybe move play button away from home button? Great app thanks!

The best way to send feedback currently is to triple-tap with two fingers on the screen while in the app (this will change when 1.7.0 is released in a month or two). If you send the suggestion it'll be in the queue!

I like the idea. Maybe it could check if the device is on silent/vibrate and if it is, bring up a confirmation dialog box asking if the person wants to play? Assuming a person's phone would be on silent/vibrate during church.
