Linux Support

At my home we exclusively use Linux. The Vidyo website claims support for Linux computers although I note that the church PVC requirements page does not mention linux, and it does not seem to work either - showing a message that VidyoDesktop 2.x isn't running, and suggesting that it is an installable.

Does anyone have any tips on getting it to work on a Linux computer? (Google video chat works on linux with no problems).

We currently do not offer or support the Linux client on our implementation of PVC. Vidyo does offer a client; we have not tested yet. However, it is in our plans to test it and then make it available later this year. I'll update this thread when it's ready.

Arch Linux Support

There is a package in the Arch User Repository (AUR) that is setup to install using the VidyoDesktopInstaller-sl564-TAG_VD_2_1_0_00335.rpm. The only version I could find to download was VidyoDesktopInstaller-sl564-TAG_VD_2_1_0_00310.rpm. I changed the PGKBUILD file to reflect the 310 build file. After resolving some dependencies I was able to install it on ArchLinux 64. See the following link for instructions: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=701083

The only problem I have is that I receive an error that states there is an "Authorization Problem" and I should refresh the browser and log back in. After doing that multiple times, I still receive the error each time. It works okay if I boot into Win 7 to use the Windows client. I suspect there is a bug in the version I downloaded.

Does anyone have any info on how to get the latest rpm build of the client?

I use Linux nearly exclusively, currently Linux Mint 13 (Ubuntu/Debian base) and would like to use PVC, has this been tested? Where can I obtain the software to test? THanks. Rick

Although Vidyo has a Linux based client, we currently do not support it as part of the Church's product solution. We are looking into the possibility of providing it in the future and will keep you updated as we make progress.

If I could just obtain the software, I would welcome the opportunity to Beta test!

CERN use Vidyo and it's reachable throught sip protocol. This mean that any sip based client can join Vidyo conference.
As this possibility available also for PVC portal?
