I like to listen to the Ensign on my commute, and have waited for the audio to be available for the January 2017 issue, but it is not there. Am I missing something? Or have they discontinued the audio for magazines?

What version of Gospel Library do you have?

It's the same on both iPad (Air) and iPhone (6)

I should note that the audio is still there for older magazines - Dec, Nov, etc.

I don't get it either on my iPhone 6+. I do see that audio is available for Jan 2017 Ensign on LDS.org, so they are still doing audio, just not attaching it to the Library app. I'll be moving on to Feb. soon. I miss not listening to it on walks.

I am having the same issue on my iPhone 7, I really miss the audio.

I am seeing the same thing for the January 2017 Ensign. I can get the audio if go out to the Ensign in Safari. I hope it is just a temporary glitch

Based on advise in another thread, I'd report the problem though in-app feedback. The developers will pass along any complaints about the content.

It looks like this was resolved either by the update that came out, or they added the audio for January when the February edition became available.
