Does anybody here know what content they had open in the previous version before they updated to 4.0. There's a possibility that some particular pieces of content are causing the majority of the crashes, but we're not sure which content yet.

Crashed on startup on iPad. iPhone 6 Plus opens but lost all my notes.

I believe we have a fix for the crash on startup problem. If anyone is still in that state, and is willing to test a pre-release update of the app with the fix in it, please send me your email address and I'll get you an Apple TestFlight invite to install it.
Regardless, if you're in that state, don't delete the app! We'll have the update with a fix out soon.

If anyone is still experiencing this problem, could you send me an email: stephan@ldschurch.org. We are testing a fix for this, and would love to have you test it out before we release the update. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't lose any annotation with the update. Make sure you're signed in with your LDS Account and give the app a minute or so to finish downloading content updates and annotations.

Have you been signed in with your LDS Account? If so, your notes should have been backed up. If you are signed in but still don't see your notes and highlights, try signing out and back in again in Settings. Same issue on iPad 2. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck. Crashes every time. IOS 9.3.5. Echo benspendlove's sentiment.
