Endless "Loading: Checking for Available Content" on iPod Touch

Installed the Gospel Library app on both my iPhone 4s and my wife's iPod Touch. Both are running on my WiFi network, both can access the Internet through Safari.
My iPhone downloaded all desired content with no problem.
However on the iPod Touch, after the flash screen I tap "Manage Library" to download the content. The following message appears: "Loading: Checking for available content" then the app freezes.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but no success.
Any suggestions?
