Gospel Library on the new Barnes and Noble NOOK Tablet

I just installed the Gospel Library on my new Nook Tablet. I haven't used it very much yet but it installed without a hitch. Thought I would share. I didn't have to root the tablet or anything. This is what I did. I went to the web and did a search for "gospel library apk" when the Wiki page was found that had the apk file on it I just tapped on the file to download it. It downloaded and was in my notification area. I tapped on it in the notification area and was taken to a screen that said Application settings at the top I put a check in the Allow installation of non-Market applications. I then had to tap the apk file again and now it came up with a screen that asked me if I wanted the App Installer or the Package Installer and I tapped the Package Installer and the Gospel Library was installed. I was sad at first because it didn't show up in my Apps on the NOOK Tablet. I hit the Nook button below the screen and tapped the Search Icon and put Gospel Library in the search box and there it was the Gospel Lbrary App, tapped it and away I went. I was able to download everything.

This was great - now I don't have to wait for the app to come out in the App store and I didn't even have to root. I am going to try the same thing with LDS Tools and the Mormon Channel.

I do have to do a search to find the Gospel Library every time but that doesn't take much time and it is great to have the whole library on my NOOK Tablet.

Nook Color update to OS Ver 1.4.1 and Gospel Library

Did the Barnes & Noble (B&N) update to the Nook Color (NC) and will confirm that it will not install the .apk. Get error message "gospel-library-GM-bl6-2.0.2.2-z.apk" " The NOOK cannot read this file. It may be an unsupported format."
Had hopes thsat 1.4.1 would allow it to be installed like the Nook Tablet.
I followed the steps that you explained but received the above error. I have read that B&N has crippled Android OS to only allow what B&N wants. Unfortunately I bought NC in August and was not aware of new ereader until sometime in Nov.
That's electronics for you, buy the greatest whiz bang and the whiz is gone within a couple of months. Well not really, the NC is a good ereader and I have been able to put ,pdf files on sd card and carry it instead of bulky books.

My Vizio works great with Gospel Library and will have to admit, I have seen more of the Bible and Book of Mormon then reading paper.

Next step is to boot NC via sd card into full ANdroid OS and then install Gospel Library. This way no chance of voiding warrenty.

If anyone has any pointers drop me a line or two at rcook525 (you know the symbol) hotmail.com

My Nook Tablet just automatically updated to the software 1.4.1. This update killed sideloading apk files. So this work around for side loading the Gospel Library will not work if you are running version 1.4.1 on your NOOK Tablet.

B&N Nook Color and Tablet

After doing some research over the past couple of weeks, I have understood that B&N has locked down the Android OS on the two mentioned items in my subject line. I have downloaded the epub modules and can open them but do not have the hyperlinks like the GL on a full system Android tablet has. This is unfortunates as the NC is just the right size to view with. It just seems so amazing that we can have the Bible, BOM, DC and a lot more publications on a device that is no more then 1/2" thick and view area of 7".
I understand that the Church is working with B&N to make the GL available. The NC and NT are not the only readers that have it locked up, appearently Amazon has done the samething on the Kindle Fire.

We are in the process of getting the app submitted. It takes more time to get an app submitted to the BN market than the Google Play store. We hope to have it available soon.

Good news. I will watch for updates. We are enjoying the Nook tablet and will enjoy it more when the app is submitted and accepted!

To all Brothers and Sisters and All People of the World!

Barnes and Noble (B&N) has finally released the Gospel library to Nook Color. I can not vouch for the Tablet and standard reader! I downloaded via B&N apps store and have it installed on my Nook Color (NC). I can only vouch for B&N apps store, do not know if NC or Tablet is available via Google Play store (formerly Google/android Market). B&N has locked alot of the Android apps out. I do hope all can spread the word as to me this very exciting! I am trying to refrain myself from calling all of my Los Wages, NV Bro's and Sis's as it is 9:30 pm here.

Just downloaded the Gospel Library App for my daughter's nook tablet. It seems to work great. YEAH! We have had the scriptures, now we have the LDS App and all that adds (foot notes, bible dictionary, topical guide, magazines, manuals etc) just like my husband's i-pad.
