Make GLA content data callable for other methods (apps)?

Hi there folks! First time poster here.
I was poking around here and after reading some posts I was wondering if it would be possible to make the Gospel Library content available to be searched, skimmed, processed or ported to other apps. I think that LDS devs could find some very interesting and cool things to do if the GL was a sort of an API.
What are your thoughts on this ? Thanks!
