Gospel Library 2.0 (Call for help)

THIS IS A CALL FOR HELP!

We have had great success with our Android release of Gospel Library. There have been may requests by our current users to enhance the project in many ways. Based upon this input the Church Leaders have prioritized some features that we need some help with.

With these priorities in mind I have created several issues in Jira (https://tech.lds.org/jira/browse/MSA) that define the work that needs to be completed. Notice that these issues may have subtasks that also define the work needed to be done.

So highest priorities passed down from Church Leaders.

1. Dynamic Content Download and Management - https://tech.lds.org/jira/browse/MSA-78

iPhone has seen a huge success in it's ability to download only certain content, and manage that content on the phone, and there have been many requests to provide that same functionality on the Android devices. This means that the content needs to be broken up into separate database files and stored on our Gospel Library web service .

2. Searching of content - https://tech.lds.org/jira/browse/MSA-106

Once the content is broken up into separate files we would like to enhance the search capability. We can no longer download on large index file and must find another strategy. Also we would like to change the search results to present result numbers available in each book/manual/conference/magazine/etc. first ordered by the number or results in that content section. Then in each area ordering the verse/chapter/article/etc. in the order they appear in that content section. When selecting the content result we want to continue to highlight the search term(s) in that content.

3. Annotation Synchronization - https://tech.lds.org/jira/browse/MSA-83

The ability to persist notes, highlights, bookmarks, cross references to the lds.org server. This will associate the annotations with the user's LDS Account such that these same bookmarks will be cross platform (the new.lds.org website, Android, iPhone, WebOS, Blackberry). This also provides backup functionality prevents the loss of annotations when the user gets a new device.

All of this work should be done on the scriptures branch found at https://dev.lds.org/svn/scriptures/android/branches/v2/

If you are seriously interested in helping please contact Nathan @ dickamorenj@ldschurch.org and let me know what it is you are interested in doing.

Thanks in advance for all your help,
