Unable to Open Database

#1

Post by jasonhyer »

The error Unable to Open DB occurs when the app is unable to communicate with the DB on your SD card. Please check the following when you have this issue:
  1. Do you have the most recent version of the app? If you do not, please upgrade your app as we make improvements to fix this issue with each release
  2. What is the state of your SD card. If it is more than a couple years old or if it came with your device, you may want to try a different card to see if that will resolve the issue. DB corruption is more common in older SD cards or cards that came with your device (often a low quality mass produced SD card).
This issue is caused by corruption in the DB or being unable to open the DB. Corruption can be caused my many things such as an interrupted download, a malfunction on your device when data is being written to the sd card or corruption on the sd card itself. We are working on ways to alleviate these issues with each new release.

The newest versions of the app has a message that will walk you through troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue. Please select the "Delete Database" option in the "Unable to Open Database" message that displays when you open the app. This will delete the database on the SD card and create a new one. You will need to download the content again but the corruption will be gone. As long as you have logged in to the app with your LDS Account, you bookmarks, highlights and notes will be restored when log back in again.

As we are unable to determine how often this issue is happening whe the self help option in the app, if you have had the issue, please post a reply to this thread to let us know if you have experienced the issue and how often it has occured.
