I think the point is whether the brethren want the bible in other languages or not. I Believe that if they said they wanted, other general authorities, high-ranked Church employees would have it done.
Today it would be easier and faster to produce them. There are several digital versions available for many languages, so work wouldn't start from zero, but there would be a few corrections, addings, etc. Besides that, there are volunteering translation now (https://tech.lds.org/blog/407-community ... partner-up). Thousands of members could be involved and have most of the job done. Church employed and personal translators would only work on the supervision and revision. I think it is pretty much like indexing. Lots of non- professional contribution resulting on an excellent outcome.
There's even a Portuguese translation of the KJV available digitally.

I thought the Church used an existing translation that had come into the public domain, and then added all of the cross references, footnotes, and study guide information and published an LDS Church version of the book.sbradshaw wrote:Spanish did get their own translation –
I was not aware that the Church actually accomplished a translation.

They started with the 1909 edition of the Reina Valera Bible and modernized the vocabulary and grammar, in addition to adding the LDS study helps.

Then there was more of a translation effort. How interesting and wonderful for the Spanish-speaking members.
