Forgive me for not coming back sooner, but it looks like a spirited discussion. Unfortunately for me, the question has become somewhat moot as our branch will be undergoing some changes in a few weeks. :( Many of you probably know what that means having watched the transitions in other geographic ar...

Thank you for your input thus far. Your thoughts follow some of the ideas I have had with some additional insights into how activities committees have operated in the past and some points in the guidelines that hadn't struck me yet. I think this will be valuable in our discussions. As pointed out by...

YSA Wards/Branches and the Activities Committee

[font="] I've been hesitant to post this because I fear for what may happen in a thread like this. I have two ground rules for any that reply: This is not a discussion of the wisdom of the church policy as stated by Elder Cook and contained in the new handbooks. If the thread heads in that direc...

You probably already know this but for the benefit of others - you can still access your home ward's web site. All you need to do is select Stake Home on the left pane menu (or the stake name from the bread crumb path) and then select your home ward on the stake's home page. This is true. If I reca...

You have created an out-of-unit record, but there is a second step. The person must also be added to your unit as a nonresident member. It seems like when I went through this, the Stake Clerk had to do it. Once they are a nonresident member, they will show up on the LUWS directory. Also note that wh...

Thank you. I guess it doesn't really apply to much of the U.S. for wards and stakes but could make regional meetings less burdensome and might have some application during emergencies. I'm constantly amazed at the ways the church is applying technology.

I know that this is not the ideal answer but calling in the morning is much faster. When I called last week, it couldn't have been more than a 5-minute wait. That was about 10:00 AM Mountain time. If you have the flexibility to call at other times, it really helps. The extended hours are nice for th...

Done. Hope that helps someone out. I know when I inherited a file cabinet with 6+ years of files, it really helped weed out the junk. The shredder may never be the same. :)

This thread is old but it was referenced in another thread on 11/15/10 and I thought it would be good to update it.

I have attached the 2008 retention document for wards and branches.

Ward/Branch Retention Document

I am adding the latest Retention of Records document that I have. It is dated 5/07 but copyrighted 2008. The number is 06499.

I know this is a pretty old thread, but it was referenced in a recent thread and I thought it would be nice to update it.
