In our stake, I wrote a command file to automate launching of the installer and made CDs for each ward. We passed them out to the Bishops at a Stake Conference meeting Saturday in envelopes with printed instructions. We'll see how that works. You're talking about a different issue. I'm referring to ...

I do understand your thoughts here Brad. However, I'm also coming from the perspective of do things right the first time. My opinion is that the legal protections for personally identifiable information are far stronger in other countries than in the U.S.. With that in mind, why not be the best prot...

This is a real concern. I've been involved in the development of web applications that have international distribution and there are real international legal concerns about the privacy of personal information. At the very least there needs to be concerns about the impact of the European Community pe...

Computers in developing regions

re: Connection Speeds

To the best of my knowledge one of the objectives of the LU Desktop 5.5 distribution is to prepare systems for broadband connections. I do know that my stake has all of the hardware for those connections already in place in our buildings. Our group of technically trained Asst. Stake Clerks, two elec...

Meetinghouse Locator issues

I have noticed that the meetinghouse locator is not especially accurate in areas where there is a lot of growth. This is an issue when ward clerks are trying to forward membership records. Our ward has at least one or two records each month sent to us where the family does not even live in our ward ...

re: Querying quarterly reports

My stake has a spreadsheet that generates some very nice stake and ward level charts and statistics off of the unit statistics in MLS. I'll check with our stake clerk and see if he minds having a blank copy posted to this group.

From what the ward financial clerk and the bishopric are telling me, the program is freezing before the modem initializes.

In the part of Pinal county where I live, the Google earth satellite pictures are at least two years old. Yahoo maps are at least two and a half to three years old. MSN maps are at most one year old for our area,
