Re: New DNS Filtering Policy

Of the six named, the Church has an extensive presence on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Elder Bednar has encouraged member use of those sites for missionary activities, I use Twitter a lot to send things out and last week I sent the 2015 Youth Theme song 'Embark' into a discussion of Grammy nom...

Re: Apple.com Blocked

A separate thread on this forum, look for the one about 'Cortana' a search assistant used on some smartphone apps for primarily Microsoft-produced apps, for some additional issues that may be related to the above, since some of this is affecting the Missionary Area Book app and a couple of other cri...

Re: Cortana not working on Meetinghouse Internet

I ran some of the URLs in the traceroute through this Zscaler site, http://zulu.zscaler.com/ which tests for a variety of malicious issues and spam, but does not give content filter categorizations (that is not the issue though). All came well under the threshhold of 50/100 for 'suspicious' sites or...

Re: Mormon Channel (and others) for Apple TV

The biggest difference will be that Apple will now require Siri as part of all tvOS apps, but that could be easily done, there are already at least two hour-long Youtube videos on how to develop for tvOS. While I'm certain that those only cover basics, those still indicate that Apple, despite new te...

Re: Apple TV app store + tvos

The first religious content seen was at least one church and two Bible apps, both were the text, one was paid and the other free. Thanks to slidetoplay.com I was able to see an early listing of top apps and a member built a 'LDS Sing Along' app which quickly got some early LDS users of the new Apple...

Re: Mormon Channel (and others) for Apple TV

True, there's a lot of things they want and need to do otherwise, but things are very fluid in the streaming media OTT device space right now because of this. Right now the order from most popular down is Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV. I'm expecting Apple TV because of the breadth of of...

Re: Mormon Channel (and others) for Apple TV

That was my question also. However, since I posted originally, I've learned that there are now 1,000 apps on the tvOS app store, so they are approving apps very quickly, so that when the Mormon Channel and other Church app teams are ready to submit, the turnaround will not be that long. Sometime thi...

Mormon Channel (and others) for Apple TV

Apple TV, the long rumored update version, has finally begun to ship. Announced in September, the updated interface and software is substantial. In fact, it's a new OS even, tvOS, behind it. It's substantially better than the old one was in that now many apps known to be used on iOS can, with just a...

Re: Handbook 1 will not display in english

Unrelated only by location, but until today and for a good couple years now I have not seen the language scrambling problem described in the discussion regarding viewing Handbook 1. However, it occurred for the first time in, again a couple year, when working in medialibrar.lds.org. Had just grabbed...

Re: Unit Statistics

What you are describing here is probably a new feature, it was not quite available to me as a high priest group secretary, I was released four months ago. It was pointed out during the tech broadcast that IE (any flavor) does not work well with LCR. They said Chrome is the best for viewing it, same ...
