So combining all of the answers, you can safely tell the parents to use whatever name they want for the blessing. The "legal" name should be what's on the birth certificate, and the preferred name can be the one they've chosen. Then consolidate later. (I often hear these horror stories about Grandpa...

I should note that with a stake conference last week, we have only attempted one S/R in 2 weeks. Should we abandon all hope or wait for a few more S/Rs to do the trick?

14 days and counting ...

In order to clean up some of the issues with callings in the 3.0 release, you may see some of the custom calling positions disappear after the initial download. Do not reenter the positions. They will be processed by the backend systems at CHQ and then sent back down and repopulate MLS. This should...

It probably have been set up originally that the parents' records remained in YOUR ward and then added as "out-of-unit" members in the language ward...

Great article. Note that it's increasingly common for women in the United States to not change their names or for families to hyphenate. For women that do change their surname upon marriage, it's hard to predict if the woman will be keeping her middle name or her maiden name, or keeping both. Member...

We've been through this a few times in our ward. If you can't request the entire family by head of household, your BEST bet (for all parties concerned) is to request each member individually and then recombine the family unit after the individuals are in your ward. Don't mess up another ward's recor...

Another possibility would be that CHQ just hasn't yet processed the request fully. Doesn't a transaction report that comes back saying that the record has been removed from the ward, count as 'fully processed"? I wish there were a user's guide that included technical information on how it works, ho...

Perhaps the members aren't removed from your ward list until they get assigned to a real unit? That would definitely be a bug in my opinion, but this would be a hard theory to verify on one's own. I can definitely see that as a possibility. In which case this would be a new "feature", because we've...

(FYI - I already know that one option is to talk to Stake Clerk and then to Membership Support. I was wondering if there was a less obvious recommendation, or perhaps someone with inside knowledge who could shed some light on the problem.)

LUWS data sync issue

We have a number of members whose records we have recently sent to the UNKNOWN bin at CHQ (we can't find them, not at the current address, no way to reach them). They have been processed in MLS (I even have the transaction statement from CHQ indicating that it was completed. We have also recently re...
