So I installed CutePDF on a home computer today by downloading the latest version from their website. During the install I noticed it prompted to install a toolbar. I unselected the options telling it not to. It still installed the toolbar! Very annoying for me and the laptop user who hates it. :( M...

Cabinet head injuries

We've had that issue. The FM group probably contracts that work out so it costs money which they are limited in spending. There's also the possible cost of moving wires now and needing support beams in the wall at the right place. Until someone gashes their head in and sues the Church you probably w...

Another possibility is to see if the FM group has tried negotiating with the cable company for both Internet & phone service. The cable company might be w...

Useful reference from HB1.

The plus side is that the STS doesn't really have to worry about offsite backups since CHQ already does this for them. A check that units are successfully doing a send/receive should suffice to ensure that an offsite backup exists.

There isn't an official written standard procedure other than back MLS up to something other than the hard disk. I remember the good old floppy disks days. When we converted to USB drives I had the privilege of destroying 500+ floppies. The STS decided years back to never overwrite an old floppy but...

In addition to policy issues units in European countries could violate laws if the data was transmitted outside of Europe even if encrypted. If the Church felt that the current level of redundancy against fire or natural disaster wasn't sufficient they would just increase the backup frequency that e...

No media center device really handles them all or they get out dated more quickly and aren't usable. You could just buy a cheap dedicated laptop and hood it into a regular TV via svideo out or a VGA adapter too. That would be your best bet on getting all formats covered. VideoLan is a great software...
