Got the password

I called the support desk and got the password to the MLS beta site. I am downloading the beta now, but the transfer rate is only 7K/sec. It will take a few hours to download the 100MB file. Oh well.

Add RAM and Reboot

The problem is that now we have to purchase RAM just to be compliant w/ SLC's request to install Sophos That's right! We had to do the same thing with all our GX-270 computers when I installed Desktop 5.5, including Symantec Anti-Virus. All the clerks in the stake complained about the slowdown. I t...

Thank you

Thank you for the beta site. I can't find the e-mail announcing the beta test and giving me the password for the beta site. That's fine. It can wait another day.

I'm tired, and ready to go home now.

Probably a beta

I think we are still a beta test stake, so I probably shouldn't have posted it here. I tried to uninstall MLS 3.1.5, but the uninstall hung on the last step, updating the registry. I tried deleting all references to MLS from the registry, and deleting or renaming all folders related to MLS. However,...

Mls 3.1.5

A bishop just called to tell me that MLS 3.1.5 downloaded and installed today. After the reboot, MLS refused to start. It said something about missing class files. Since MLS 3.1.5 is not yet available for download, I guess I will have to reinstall 3.1.4 and restore the latest backup. However, I susp...

Mobility

I changed both the stake center and a rural branch in Iowa to the LDSAccess profile. Now my laptop can roam! I was a bit excited when I arrived prior to the branch conference this morning, and I found that my laptop immediately connected to the local WAP. So maybe it's OK if we all use the same pass...

Workaround

If the Sophos firewall were preventing me from doing something I needed to do, I would disable the Sophos firewall service, do what I needed to do, then restart the service.

But yes, I agree that we should all follow the stated guidelines.

I know!

If I ever have a clerk's computer become unbootable, I can remove the hard drive, copy all the data files to a safe place, and then clone a hard drive from another unit onto the drive that was corrupted. Then I will need to change the Computer Name, because that contains the unit number (LU-xxxxx). ...
