Re: Newsletter going away???

I hadn't paid much attention through this forum lately but, today, sat down to dig into the necessary 2017 newsletter entries (as a big part of one of my callings to maintain this stuff for the ward) and... oh, never mind. I knew the lesson schedules were going away but, somehow, I missed the news a...

Re: Get Missionary Account Balance

Obviously, the dynamics have changed now that more people are donating online and are able to obtain their own donation records online too (reports they could only previously get from someone who used MLS). It's only natural that donors would want a ward missionary sub-category report online too, es...

Re: Get Missionary Account Balance

My thinking is that there's no point checking the balance more often than once per week. But it could potentially change any day, now that donations are received online and not just processed on Sundays in the clerk's office. I was also thinking that the clerk could potentially check the balance, wr...

Re: Get Missionary Account Balance

Agreed. The ward clerk and/or "finance clerk" is your man. Just make him aware that you want to receive a regular update on the account balance and he can make a habit of informing you. Suggest that each Sunday before he wraps up his work and shuts down the computer that he could just send...

Re: Doubts about violent media

I could certainly provide an opinion but it wouldn't be authoritative. Also, this forum is designed for discussions of technical questions instead of the topic you have presented here. I can tell you, anecdotally, that a few years ago I took an elderly relative to see the Joseph Smith movie at the L...

Re: Missionary donation not received

I believe we must clarify a few things. Only a person with access to the ward finances (a member of the Bishopric or one of the proper clerks) can check the account. If your daughter checked the account then that means she received information from one of those individuals. But those individuals are...

Re: Transferring from General Missionary Fund to Individual Missionary Fund

Ideally, you still have the donation paperwork to show the orginal error made by the clerk. Without those records I would say you cannot correct the mistake because there's no proof it was a mistake. If you have the paperwork and if MLS can go back that far, just correct the donation in MLS. But if ...

Re: Why can't I have my own records transferred?

Why can't I transfer my own records and update my address using the lds website? We have been in a new area now for 6 months and the new ward obviously doesnt care about us and havent transferred our records. Let's troubleshoot this a bit before jumping to conclusions. When you sign in at LDS.org u...

Re: New Adult Curriculum / Meetinghouse Capabilities

I'd rather have the FM group invest in more smart TV monitors and just teach people how to download the files to flash drives (or, in my ward, have the files pre-loaded to flash drives by, well, me). If more teachers are planning to use this media then we'll need more equipment to play the stuff.

Re: Being baptized in a river

I know of two folks within my stake who were each baptised in ponds on their families' properties. One was about 5 years ago and other about 20 years ago. In each case, the pond was much colder than anyone expected. In one case, the child didn't go under all the way and they had to do the baptism ag...
