Many years ago my wife and I were considering ditching TV altogether, we've never been big on TV. We decided against it.We decided it would be better to teach our kids critical use of TV and media. If we didn't they might not know how to use media critically when visiting with friends or wherver the...

Data security: We recently had our ward computer stolen (on a Sunday even). Lots of members had written reports as PDF files and left them all over the harddisk. I was recently called to the bishopric and did intend to "clean it up", but didn't get a chance before it was stolen. Whilst the PC was pr...

Editor can't edit calendars?

I'm the stake clerk, and a member has recently been given the assignment to edit the (new) online stake calendar. "Sign in" at lds.org currently not possible?

The "Sign in" option is currently not shown on the lds.org site, I'm assuming I'm not the only one who is seeing (or not) this?

I should probably first mention that I am personally not too fussed about the data privacy issues raised by the online directory. There is not very much personal information in the online directory that can be misused. I presented the online tools now available at a recent bishopric training meeting...

UTF-8 problem with names in new maps?

This is my first name as displayed in the online directory: Bjørn

This is what the new map tells me when I press the "Home" button:
Welcome, =?UTF-8?B?QmrDu<the rest removed to protect the innocent>

Some countries do use characters in addition to those used in the US...
