Re: Audio backup

I don't know about in your area, but at least in ours the FM was directed to keep at least 1 line active for safety reasons. In our buildings, that is the foyer line. We use that one for our audio backups, and disconnect the foyer phone for the broadcast. Check with your FM to see if that is the cas...

Re: Alternative to Webcasting using a bridge

There are actually HDMI over ethernet extenders that work over IP. Those are fairly inexpensive ($75 for a sender/receiver pair, $35 for a single receiver). The sender does basically a multi-cast over an IP network.

Re: YouTube is out

I for one wish they'd let us keep a short-term copy. The reason is this: When I'm producing a broadcast, I'm focused on the tech of the broadcast not necessarily the message, checking overflow rooms, monitoring the internet connection and broadcast, chatting with the remote site(s) to verify things ...

Re: Meetinghouse DNS Setting Changes

Has anyone else had issues with computers losing their DNS settings periodically? I went through all my buildings today and made sure the DNS was set for computers I had moved to static IP's. I tested each computer after I put in the DNS addresses. In at least 2 cases, the computers lost the changes...

Re: Gospel library requires internet access

Which begs the question - why so many updates? Are they updating as they push out a format update for each chapter? Can someone talk to them and indicate what kinds of problems the frequent updates are causing? One of the problems we have is with buildings that have substandard internet connections...

Re: Gospel library requires internet access

Is your phone connected to the internet (over cellular data, if the Wi-Fi is off)? What kind of tablet do you have (I'm assuming it doesn't have cellular data)? That's a standard error message if you try to download audio or video or a book without an internet connection, but I wouldn't expect it t...

Gospel library requires internet access

I've noticed an annoyance with the Gospel Library app on my Android tablet. Our building has terrible internet, so we have been turning off the wireless network each Sunday so that the clerks can perform their financial processes. Today I noticed that as I clicked around in the Gospel Library, a box...

Re: No Access for the Weary

The odd thing is, at one time I had stuff under Leader and Clerk Resources, but no more. This is odd because technology training is one of the responsibilities of the STS, but since I can't see what anyone else has on their page, I'm flying blind unless I'm sitting next to them.

Re: Configure New Clerk Computers?

So, i just took a new computer to one of our buildings to install it. I had done the windows updates and such offsite at my home, set up sophos, mls, and miscellaneous software manually. As soon as it was connected on the network at the church building, the post install scripts kicked in. So, it app...

Re: Configure New Clerk Computers?

That maybe new, as all the computers I prepared were supplied incorrectly imaged. This was about 2 years ago now. So dependant on which computer manufacturer, ours are Dell, there well maybe differences now, on how they are scripted. OK, all these were Lenovo's. They might have been left over from ...
