Re: Can Anyone Suggest A Good Service for Locating Moveouts
Can anyone suggest a good service for locating members who have moved out of the ward, and haven't given us a new address? In talking with some of the pro's that do skip tracing, they have said that programs like Spokeo, people finders, etc, are a waste of money. I don't think PeopleFinders is a wa...

Re:
Has anyone in this forum attempted boundary realignment using the new online maps application ( https://lds.org/maps/index.jsf )? It's unfortunate that the dots aren't different colors based on Priesthood, or that you can't change a boundary line to see what that results would be. I can only imagin...

As I understand it, the print feature discussed in this two-year-old thread has been removed in more recent versions of the LDS Maps site.

Re: Facebook check-in / google maps
I have no idea about Facebook. As for the general Google Maps site, I started a thread five years ago suggesting that the Church claim these sites on Google by posting authorized descriptions and links. Spot-checking by searching in Google Maps today, it looks like someone, somewhere, sometimes post...

Re: Moving Out Records
When I say "move out" I am talking about moving the record to church headquarters because we do not know where the new ward they moved to is. Until recently there was a high-level description of this policy in Leader and Clerk Resources, which I can no longer find. However, the policy was...

Re: GeoCode on LDS.org Clerk & Leader Tools
I guess I'm a slacker as I have never gone into LDS Maps and done anything with Geocoding. Actually, we don't do much either, and our stake does not require it. The reason is simple: The "verification" process in LDS Maps is very labor-intensive -- needlessly so, IMHO -- for too little be...

Re: GeoCode on LDS.org Clerk & Leader Tools
Which will be a simpler solution? Add the existing Geocode to LCR or change MLS to a new GeoCode field and update MLS? Stake GeoCode seems to be stored in Salt Lake so adding it to LCR seems like it would be pretty painless. Then perhaps replace the "legacy GeoCode" with something newer a...

Re: GeoCode on LDS.org Clerk & Leader Tools
Rather than duplicate online the legacy Geo Code fields in MLS -- which are really just arbitrary codes, geographically dumb, that someone keys in -- an ideal solution would be to build online functionality to let clerks draw the geographic boundaries of the small area represented by each. That woul...

Re: MLS export
I just noticed this thread. I don't know why I missed it before. We don't maintain the export features in MLS. If they get broken as the result of another change (the likely scenario here), they won't get fixed. There have been some long-running discussions about (1) whether to remove export capabi...

Re: Creating Wall-Sized Ward Maps
Before the maps update a few months ago I was able to generate a large ward map that was printed and pasted on the Bishop's wall that had all of the households with the associated names displayed. We primarily created it for Emergency Preparedness zones but was used fairly often in Ward Council and...
