Re: 3.5mm to XLR cables?

I thought there was some sort of announcement that they were making an microphone receptacle that also had a 3.5mm jack below it. I believe they also said it would be deployed in new building and to a limited extent in older buildings.

Am I the only one that remembers this?

Re: Late Collisions and familysearch.org FT issues

-- I think the biggest clue you have is that it's negotiating down to half duplex. I would suspect a cabling issue. If you have access to the console, I woud look at counters (CRC or frame). In a "good" environement, you will rarely if ever see these numbers change. If they are having prob...

Re: WAP in YSA Ward Clerk's Office

I agree with Mikerwaved. The biggest problem is that you said the clerk computer was connected to this Wireless Router. There is a possibility that some functionality (in the form of software / antivirus updates, etc.) will not work because it's on a private subnet. For me, the bigger picture is tha...

Re: Setting static IP

Couple of troubleshooting tips. 1) Try another IP from your static range. 2) Try pinging the default gateway. 3) If that works try pinging an IP on the internet (try 8.8.8.8). 4) Verify settings from a command prompt (ipconfig /all). Make sure you have values for DNS. 5) Try testing DNS from a comma...

Family History Class in buildings with no FHC

As it turns out, the only building out of the 5 in our stake without an FHC is the Stake Center. However, they have some donated computers which they use to teach a Familiy History class (not sure if this is during SS or not). To the point... they have asked me to help "fix" them because t...

Re: DHCP reserve list for leadership

Is it possible to assign DHCP to leadership, with or without password protection. For the purpose of maintaining leadership access during peak use times? Can I assign a leaders MAC address to a DHCP? What you are referring to is commonly called a DHCP Reservation. It assigns a reserved IP address t...

Re: Multicast on Meetinghouse network

WIRED: In wired networks multicast works similar to a broadcast and doesn't need to be enabled. In fact, your only real option is whether or not to enable 'IGMP Snooping' or not. Usually advanced setups (and licensing) are required when you turn it on at the router (which you don't want to do). See ...

Re: Who should buy the Roku or (WD Player)?

My preference would be the Roku for the following reasons. -- Many people will already be familiar with it (small learning curve). -- Slightly cheaper (looking into bulk rates with Roku as well). -- iOS and Android remote control app (could come in handy if the remote is lost?). The only real advant...

Who should buy the Roku or (WD Player)?

In the letter the church sent out regarding the new curriculum, they mentioned playing media off of a USB drive as being the preferred choice. They suggest a Roku or the WD box as viable solutions. My question is, who should provide this? -- Our FM Manager seems to feel that it falls in the category...

TV Sizes (Large vs. Small vs. Too Small)

We are trying to work with our FM group to get the appropriate amount and size of TVs in all the buildings in our stake to support the new digital curriculum. Our FM Manager defined TV sizes as: -- Large: 32" -- Small: 19" Additionally, CHQ indicates in their letter regarding the new curri...
