Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, concluded the 185th General Conference with a stirring call to action. He said: “The question for each of us is: because of what I have heard or felt during this conference, how will I change?” Elder Nelson enumerated many technology resources provided by the Church that help with parenting, keeping the Sabbath, and strengthening family ties.

Resources furnished by the Church are meaningful only if members use them to teach, learn, serve, and live the gospel better each day. As you reflect on your own conference experience, how will you use,,, Bible Videos, the Media Library, Church magazines, and other technology tools to set or re-align priorities for yourself and your family in the coming months?

As you ponder, recall how on Sunday morning, Elder Jose A. Teixeira of the Seventy also referenced how immersed our lives are in technology.

According to Elder Teixeira, “Mobile data, smart phones, and social networks have profoundly changed our way of being in the world and how we communicate with others.” In emphasizing the blessings inherent in having access to excellent technology resources, including those sponsored by the Church, he cautioned how choices of online activities can aid or detract from spiritual progress and eternal relationships.

Truly, technology in all its forms can be a blessing or a distraction if left unchecked. Elder Teixeira suggested three key habits for healthy online activity: 1) Visit the Church’s official websites for resources; 2) Subscribe to the Church’s official social networks; and 3) Make time to set aside your mobile devices. Such habits, when properly aligned with carefully considered priorities, will promote daily self-reflections that will help you grow closer to the teachings of Jesus Christ and draw your family closer to you.

Now that conference has come to a close, how will you change because of what you learned or felt while technology enabled you to listen and view wonderful talks by inspired leaders?
