LDS Tools version 2.0 for iOS was recently released. Features in this release include reports and additional membership information for priesthood leaders, directory photo uploads for heads of household and ward or branch administrators, and other improvements. Each feature is described below.
Membership data and reports for priesthood leaders
If you are serving in a stake presidency, district presidency, bishopric, or branch presidency, or if you are an executive secretary or clerk, you can now view reports and membership data for your units.
When you log in you will be prompted to set up a passcode. This new passcode requirement helps prevent unauthorized access to membership data. After a 60-minute timeout period for each session, you will be prompted to re-enter your passcode.
Once signed in, you will see a new button at the bottom of the app called Reports. Two reports are now available: the Action and Interview List and the Birthday List. Both are shown below.

Action and Interview list (iPad view)

Birthday list report (iPad view) In future releases, additional reports will be available, including Members with Callings, Members without Callings, Members Moved In, Temple Recommend Status, and Unit Statistics.
As a priesthood leader, you can also see the membership record number and birth date for a member of your unit. Additionally, stake presidents, district presidents, bishops, branch presidents, clerks, and membership clerks can also see ordinances recorded for a member.
Note that access to ordinance information supports direction from Handbook 1: “Official Church membership records should not be shown or given to members. Nor may they be copied for members. Under no circumstances may membership records be given to anyone other than the bishop or a clerk" (section 13.6). Directory photo uploads
In previous releases, any photos you added to your directory in LDS Tools remained on your device. In version 2.0, photos for your household added by a head of household or photos added for a household by a ward or branch administrator now automatically sync to your directory profile on LDS.org as well.

To update your photo:
- Start LDS Tools and click the Directory button.
- Browse to your household.
- Click your photo.
- Click the camera button in the upper-left of your photo.

- If you took a picture with your camera, click Use.

In the field where a personal phone number is inserted all the numbers run together. no spaces, dashes or parenthesies. Can this be changed to a standard format?
I'm assuming the dates are intact within MLS and this is simply a glitch with the LDS Tools app ... or so I hope!
Anyone else seeing this?
Quoting M. Ward:
I am having the same problem as a bishop. Everyone has a January birthday... Clean update did NOT help.
Help!
This is a known bug that is fixed by downloading version 2.0.2.

The growth in church technology has been awesome!!! Keep up the great work.
This functionality will be added when home and visiting teaching is available online through LDS.org. Currently, there is no specific timeline for that.
We are working to get Android up-to-date with iOS functionality and hope to have that done by the end of this year.

Thank you for your efforts and I love this app.

That will likely be possible in the future but no timeline at this point.

We are working on getting Windows phone up to speed with iOS and Android, no current timeline available.

You can download the data when you are connected by going to settings. The data is then encrypted and stored on your device for offline use.
[quote name="Kevin T"]I would love to see home & visiting teaching reports available to the Elders Quorom and Relief Society Presidencies
The ability to update home teaching without having to travel to the church would be very beneficial.
Those in stake callings should have more visibility into the whole stake.
I thought at first that it might be due to there being too many listed on MLS so the missionary callings were moved up to the top of the listing on MLS, but the problem stil exists. Is there any way around this?

About a year ago an LDS Technology employee made a comment to one of these posts and said something like "globally, the church's web site and mobile apps gets the most traffic from iOS, by a large margin". I can't find the exact post right now, but that was the gist of the mobile OS usage he shared with us.
That information matches what I see in my ward and stake.
It would be interesting to hear from a church employee if that trend has changed at all. And if so, in what direction?
I really don't want to make this into an "iOS vs Android Flame War!", but I would really love to know the breakdown of mobile traffic for the church. Anyone willing to share? ;)
Does it really matter what creates more traffic? Android devices are maturing and becoming more prevalent. I see more and more in our congregation. With the release of the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet I would think Android would be closing the distance. Also the LDS tools have never been equal between iOS and Android. Now the same has happened with the Gospel Library app too. So if I am looking to buy an iOS or Android device and one of the deciding factors is the LDS tools I would buy iOS.
Lets make them equal!
We are now developing equally for both and hope to have them both on the same functionality set by the end of this year.
The phone operator tell me that the phone number is not correct. But it's correct.
Could you have a solution ?
I am in France.

We are currently working on making improvements to the calendar such as you are suggesting. Look for them in a future release.
However, I can only do individuals, whereas the default picture shown in the lds.org directory is a family picture, and I can't take those via the iPad app. Can this be corrected? It's an important gap in what is otherwise an amazingly eased path to a ward picture directory.
Thanks for the feedback! We will look to make that improvement to include household photos in a future release.
You have to re-download the data and it will be fixed.
I have deleted the app shut down the phone for about 5 min to clear the cache and still same error only on her log in if I use mine as Stake Clerk I get everything I normally do any ideas?
Other than this it is a great app
Same problem. However I deleted everything hoping I could just reinstall and it works. Well now I can't get anything. It won't allow me to download any data. It says I can't download the assignments as an error. Then basically stops.
Quoting William David Bruce Storry:
This is a known bug that was introduced in version 2.0.2 that will be fixed in 2.0.3 which will be released to the app store any day now.
What can I do to gain access?
I'm a Clerk, and can upload pictures of others to the directory via this app, which is great. Almost no one in our ward has uploaded pictures.

Who is an "administrator"? This sounds like a hold over from the old Ward Website; is it? Or, are certain ward leaders considered administrators? If so, which?
Justin K mentioned that, as a clerk, he can upload photos. I'd like to give our ward council a list of leaders who have this capability.
Thanks,
Brother Carroll

From the quote above, it appears that automatic uploads are turned on by default; however, from the quote below, it appears that this feature is turned off by default. Which is it?
