As 2012 approaches, many of you are planning your ward and stake calendars for the coming year. With the release of the 2.0 version of the calendar, we thought it would be appropriate to provide a few training webinars to help you get started and to answer any questions.

We are providing two webinars: one for administrators and building schedulers, and another for calendar editors and members. The webinars will be repeated three times each to accommodate different time zones. The webinars will also be recorded for later viewing.

Note that these webinars are introductory. If you have problems you’re trying to troubleshoot, or edge-case scenarios, or other more advanced needs, refer to the LDSTech Forum.

Much of the webinar information to be covered is also available in six quick reference guides and three videos—available on the home page of the calendar help material, or on this LDSTech post.

Thursday, November 10 Webinar: Calendar Training for Administrators and Building Schedulers

Ward clerks, bishoprics, website administrators, stake clerks, stake presidencies, and building schedulers will find this session most useful.

Website administrators, organization leaders (such as those who participate in ward council), newsletter editors, and other members involved in the calendar will find this session most useful.

  • Scheduling events for your calendar
  • Scheduling repeating events
  • Changing calendar names and details

Additional Details

Due to the large number of expected participants, the participant phone lines will be muted. If you have questions, you can submit them through the webinar chat. Members from the calendar team will monitor and respond as much as possible to the chat during the webinar.

The webinars will show screens from a test calendar, so it’s important that you join while connected at a computer. For the audio, you can either listen through your computer or you can use your phone.

The webinar tool we are using is GoToWebinar. To join the webinar, PC users must have Windows 7, Vista, or XP. Mac users must have Mac OS X 10.5 or newer.

I registered last week but for the wrong training session. I believe as Relief Society President for my ward that the Nov. 17th training is best for my needs. You can "unenroll" me for the Nov. 10th training. Thank you.

Jean, don't worry about unenrolling. We have a cap of 1,000 participants per webinar, and we only have about 500 - 700 signed for each webinar at the moment.

When I go to the new calendar, I seen an "Unsupported web brower" message, even though I'm using IE 8.0.

Try TOOLS | COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS. If "Display all websites in Compatibility View" is selected, un-check the box. That worked for one of our members seeing the "Unsupported browser" message.

I just received a call to serve as building coordinator. I registered for the session on the 17th, but it sounds like the previous week's session would have been more geared to building coordinators. When will last week's seminar be available for viewing in the archives and how can I access it? Thanks.
