LDS Tools for the iPhone, created by the LDS Church, allows you to view the member directory, calendar, and leadership callings for your ward or stake on your iPhone. Additionally, you can create contact lists and see member locations on maps.

The following screens show the features of LDS Tools on the iPhone.

Future Versions

Future versions of LDS Tools will allow users to access reports. Because LDS Tools connects with MLS through your LDS Account, LDS Tools can personalize the information it delivers based on your calling. If you have access to see MLS reports, such as Prospective Elders and Birthday List, you'll be able to view those reports on LDS Tools.

Community involvement

To enable rapid development of LDS Tools, most of the application was built internally through the LDS Church's IT department. After the initial development, LDS Tools was handed over to community resources to provide support, enhancements, bug-fixing, and long-term planning.

In addition to supporting and enhancing LDS Tools for the iPhone, community developers have also built WebOS and Android versions of LDS Tools with little or no help from internal Church resources. LDS Tools for Android will probably be released this week. LDS Tools for WebOS is nearing completion.

Unexpected issues

LDS Tools has thousands of downloads so far, mostly within the United States and Canada. One challenge in Europe is the restriction about personal information. The European Union's privacy directives prohibit the publishing of personal information online, such as a member directory, without consent of the directory's individuals. To accommodate this restriction, member information in LDS Tools for EU countries is hidden until a member selects to make it visible. In non-EU countries, member information is shown by default.

LDS Tools has not been localized into other languages besides English.

I've been updating the calendar information through the new calendar, but it is not showing up in LDS Tools for the iphone. LDS Tools appears to still reference the old, obsolete calendar. How can we resolve this?
# David Nelson 2012-07-06 21:26
I am unable to get the lds tools app to display the calendar. It does everything else just fine, but no calendar. I have an iphone 4s.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

I have been using LDS Tools since it came out and have found it very helpful. I am an Exec Sec and when the expanded information was available it saved me a great deal of time. However, about two weeks ago I update me data and found that the expanded info was missing. I understand that some of the data is sensitive, but it is also very useful when setting up the interview for the Bishop and Counselors. When will that information be available again on LDS Tools. Thanks

I recently did a prompted update to LDS Tools app on my 3gs iPhone. I thought it completed ok and didn’t think about it until several days later when I needed to look up a members address. I clicked on the the app icon and it displayed icon opening page but never opened but just closed back down after a timeout lapsed. I tried to search for a new update to see if it really finished updating but it saw it as up to date. I then deleted the app, rebooted my iPhone and tried to reinstall. But when going to LDS tools webpage to download the app again I get a iTunes message that says the “The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store.” Yes I tried downloading when phone was not connected to laptop and from different laptops. Still same message from iTunes.

Ditto, the icon would start and then close. Not found on itunes.

Same here - not found in U.S. store

See this post about the unavailability of LDS Tools iOS in the app store: Performance issues caused us to pull the app. We hope to have a fix to push out shortly.

I can log into LDS Tools by going to the icon on my iPhone 4S and pick a member to view, then when I click on the member's name the program kicks me out to the icon again. This happens all the time after downloading v.2.1.3. What do I do now?

I am a Ward Mission Leader. Is there any way that I can get access to more information about a person in LDS Tools, like whether or not they are a member of the Church or what priesthood office they hold?

# David Broach 2013-09-19 13:37
The email iPhone-support@ldschur doesn't work.

I'm a stake president, the current download/sync of our stake data deletes all the data for one of our wards. It happens to anyone who syncs. Can't seem to find a tech support number to help with his issue.
