Tom Welch Manager Technology Community
"Working on this project has been a dream come true", says Tom Welch, Manager for the LDS Technology Community. Tom was hired to help create a technology web site to harness the expertise of Church members and has been excited to see it take shape. "I love being able to talk with members of the Church from around the world on various technology issues that affect them, their callings, and the Church."
Prior to working for the Church, Tom was the Chief Technology Officer for Linspire, Inc., a leading desktop Linux distribution company. While there, he loved interacting with the open source community. He was able to attend many open source working sessions, conferences, and meetings, where he was able to lend his leadership and skills in developing great open source products.
Tom is fascinated by technology and has been involved with many very successful projects. Tom founded Axiom Technologies and served as it's President and CEO until the company was sold. Tom has also served as the Director of Technology for Franklin Covey where he originally authored and developed the Franklin Planner Software.
Tom is not new to LDS based software products. In 1998 Tom released EZ-Reader, a Palm and CE based scriptures reader that was distributed by the Church off of the lds.org web site.
