What technology resources are available for blind members?

The Church is currently working to implement standards and guidelines to ensure that Church products are available to the blind. Currently the scriptures and many other Church publications are available as downloadable audio files. If Internet access is unavailable, a ward member or friend may be asked to burn the files to a CD.

Many publications are also available in Plaintext, Braille (both electronic and hard copy) and on audio. Our audio publications are currently available only in the four-track format, although we hope to switch to the DAISY Talking Book standard in the future.

Many of these audio and hard-copy Braille publications can be ordered from Electronic Braille and text files can be downloaded from

Another resource is the Utah Library for the Blind. This library generally serves people in Utah, though they will lend Church-related titles outside the state at no charge. More information can be found at their Web site.

For magazine subscriptions and more information on other publications available to the blind, contact the Curriculum Department of the Church.
