Question

What computer operating systems are used at Church headquarters? Are there any plans to switch Church infrastructure fully or partially to a free, open-source operating system such as Linux?

Answer

Currently the Church uses multiple computer operating systems, depending upon the needs of the application. Below are some of the operating systems currently in use by the Church.

On the Desktop

  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Vista
  • Apple Mac OS X

On the Servers

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
  • Novell SuSE Enterprise Linux
  • IBM AIX Unix OS
  • Sun Solaris Unix OS
